Modern Design often mis-credited to Russel Wright. 5 colors: Glosses Brown, Teal, Mattes "Peachblossom pink" (in photo), White, Butteryellow. Often backstamped "LIFE" or "California Life", sometimes simply "Laurel" or unmarked. I seek SERVING pieces mostly, and BOWLS, MUGS, and some sideplates to complete my dinner services. All colors. Fair price paid for excellent condition pieces - soft clay ware, not high quality -you should look very carefully for "flea bites" chips since very common and hard to see on matte glazes. "Common shapes" such as cups and dinner plates may not interest me, but with few exeptions, i.e. white, and some side plates. This is an "unknown pattern", not famous, and was budget ware in its time, but is stylishly designed, simple modernistic flowing lines, that angled handle is a theme, and so is a "sundial" finial handle on many pieces. Shakers distinct in that instead of holes, there were slots. Designer Scarpino styled these for a tatty often financially troubled Laurel Pottery co. in 1952. Common in California but was marketed in East Coast and Midwest, also. on e bay I am called "Laurelfellow" Very serious about collecting & researcing Laurel.
